Man Hunt is a 1941 British thriller film directed by Fritz Lang, based on the novel Rogue Male by Geoffrey Household. The movie follows the story of Captain Alan Thorndike (played by Walter Pidgeon), an Englishman who has decided to assassinate Adolf Hitler during a hunting trip in the Bavarian Alps.
Thorndike accidentally alerts a German soldier to his presence, leading to a high-speed chase over rough terrain. Although he escapes back to England, Thorndike is pursued by German agents who have discovered his identity and are determined to capture him.
Thorndike seeks the help of a young woman named Jerry Stokes (played by Joan Bennett), who helps him avoid detection by the German agents and find a way to get back to Germany and complete his mission.
The tension builds throughout the film as Thorndike tries to evade the Germans and make it back to Berlin, all the while struggling with his conscience and questioning the morality of his mission.
Man Hunt is a gripping thriller, with excellent performances from the cast and a nuanced exploration of the themes of personal responsibility, patriotism, and the nature of good and evil.
