Jungle Vows: Taming Savage Hearts

Adventure,Horror  Italy

The photographer's name is John Bradley, and he is on a solo expedition in the rain forest of Southeast Asia to capture photographs of exotic animals and indigenous tribes. While wandering through the forest, he falls into a trap set by a group of native tribespeople and is taken captive.

Initially, John is horrified by the tribes' practices, including cannibalism and the ritual sacrifice of captured enemies. However, as he spends more time among them, he begins to understand their customs and way of life.

John's life takes a dramatic turn when he falls in love with the chief's daughter, played by actress Me Me Lai. The couple faces opposition from the tribe's elders, who disapprove of their union. However, the chief eventually comes around and gives his blessing for the couple to marry.

As John becomes more entrenched in the tribe's daily life, he realizes that they are under threat from a violent cannibal tribe that is intent on destroying their village. John uses his training as a photographer and his knowledge of the terrain to help the tribespeople defend themselves against the cannibal attacks.

The film features graphic scenes of violence and nudity and was controversial upon its release in 1972. However, it was also credited with launching the Italian "cannibal" subgenre of exploitation films, which were popular in the 1970s and 80s.
