In Mamma Mia! Here We Go Again, the story jumps back and forth between present day and 1979 when Donna Sheridan first arrives on the Greek island of Kalokairi. The film explores Donna’s relationships with three men: Harry, Bill, and Sam, and details how each of them could potentially be Sophie’s father.
Sophie, now a young adult, is preparing to reopen her mother’s hotel, aptly named Hotel Bella Donna. As she struggles with the pressures of running the hotel and dealing with relationship issues with her boyfriend Sky, she also reminisces about her mother’s adventurous past and her potential fathers.
The film features many of ABBA’s popular songs from the first film, as well as new additions like “Mamma Mia,” “Dancing Queen,” and “Waterloo.” The original cast returns, including Meryl Streep as Donna, Amanda Seyfried as Sophie, and Pierce Brosnan, Colin Firth, and Stellan Skarsgard as potential fathers Sam, Harry, and Bill.
