Make It Happen is a 2008 dance film directed by Darren Grant. The story follows Lauryn Kirk (played by Mary Elizabeth Winstead), a small-town girl from Indiana with a passion for dance. After her mother passes away, Lauryn moves to Chicago to live with her aunt and uncle, hoping to make it as a professional dancer.
Lauryn auditions for a prestigious dance school but is rejected, forcing her to take a job as a barista at a coffee shop. There, she meets the handsome and charismatic Russ (played by Riley Smith), who invites her to join his dance crew. Lauryn is hesitant at first but eventually agrees, and she discovers a passion for hip-hop dance.
As Lauryn becomes more involved with the dance crew, she must navigate conflicts with her aunt and uncle, who disapprove of her dancing, and with her former ballet teacher, who disapproves of her new style. Lauryn also faces challenges within the dance crew, as she feels left out and struggles to fit in with the other dancers.
Throughout the film, Lauryn develops a sense of confidence and learns to trust herself and her own abilities. She eventually gets a second chance to audition for the dance school, and her hip-hop skills impress the judges. In the end, Lauryn achieves her dream of becoming a professional dancer, but not before learning valuable lessons about friendship, perseverance, and self-discovery.
