Mad Money is a comedy crime film released in 2008. The story centers around three female employees (played by Diane Keaton, Queen Latifah, and Katie Holmes) working at the Federal Reserve who hatch a plan to steal money that is about to be destroyed.
Bridget Cardigan (Diane Keaton) is the wife of a wealthy businessman who loses all their money after he is caught for committing fraud. Now, she is desperate and needs money to take care of her family. She manages to secure a job at the Federal Reserve where she meets fellow workers Nina (Queen Latifah) and Jackie (Katie Holmes). Bridget starts to notice that large amounts of old bills are being shredded and destroyed on a regular basis, without any security measures.
Bridget shares her observation with her two colleagues, and they come up with an elaborate plan to steal the money before it is shredded. They use their knowledge of the building's security system to bypass it and carefully transport the money out of the building. However, things start to go awry when a clumsy co-worker almost ruins their plan, and a security guard becomes suspicious of their activities.
As they try to escape with the stolen money, the three women encounter several obstacles and challenges. With the authorities closing in, they have to race against time to secure the cash and divide it evenly amongst themselves. The film ends with the three friends driving away in a convertible with bags full of money, laughing and enjoying each other's company.
Mad Money received mixed reviews from critics and audiences alike. Despite this, the film was praised for its talented cast and light-hearted tone.
