Macunaíma is a Brazilian fantasy-comedy film released in 1969, directed by Joaquim Pedro de Andrade. The film is based on the novel of the same name by Mário de Andrade, one of the most influential modernist writers in Brazil.
The film tells the story of Macunaíma, a mythical hero from Brazilian folklore who is born fully grown in the jungle as a black man.
