Macabre

Horror  Italy

The protagonist, named Jane, is played by actress Tippi Hedren in the 1980 horror film Macabre. The movie begins with Jane trying to cope with the sudden death of her lover, who died while they were in bed together. Traumatized and grief-stricken, Jane moves out of her old apartment and takes up residence at a boarding house in New Orleans.

The boarding house is run by a kind, elderly woman named Mrs. Duval, and her son, Robert. However, it's the blind landlord, who lives in the basement and never leaves the property, that immediately catches Jane's attention. The landlord's heightened senses put him in tune with the activities of his tenants, and he's always listening in on their conversations.

Jane begins to obsess over her dead lover, and their passionate affair continues even after his death. She visits his grave, talks to him, and carries on as if he were still alive. The landlord begins to take notice of Jane's strange and erratic behavior, and becomes increasingly suspicious of her activities.

As the movie progresses, Jane becomes more and more unhinged, and it becomes clear that there is something sinister about her lover's death. Meanwhile, the landlord's suspicions grow, and the tension between Jane and the boarding house's residents reaches a fever pitch.

Without giving away the ending, let's just say that Macabre is a disturbing film that involves graphic violence and psychological horror. It's not for the faint of heart, but fans of 80s horror movies will find plenty to appreciate in this creepy, atmospheric thriller.
