Sue Ann is a middle-aged woman who lives alone in a small rural town in Ohio. She leads a seemingly mundane life working as a veterinary assistant at a local animal clinic. However, her life takes an unexpected turn when she is approached by Maggie, a teenage girl who has just moved to town, to buy alcohol for her and her friends. Sue Ann sees this as an opportunity to befriend the young teenagers and starts to invite them to party in the basement of her house, which she has turned into a makeshift nightclub.
Despite their initial hesitation and the creepy vibe from Sue Ann, the teenagers soon warm up to her and start to appreciate the free booze, drugs, and the freedom that comes with partying in the basement. Sue Ann, who calls herself "Ma," enjoys their company and becomes obsessed with them. She becomes increasingly possessive, controlling, and vengeful when they disobey her rules or cross her.
As the partying intensifies, it becomes clear that Ma has a hidden agenda, and as the teenagers start to uncover her dark past and twisted motives, their worst fears are realized, and their lives are at risk. The horror movie, directed by Tate Taylor, stars Octavia Spencer as Sue Ann/ Ma, alongside Diana Silvers as Maggie and Juliette Lewis as Maggie's mother. With suspense, thrills, and twists, Ma is a chilling portrayal of a lonely woman's descent into madness.
