LUZ follows the story of Ruben, a newly incarcerated man who is struggling to adjust to life in prison. He is assigned to share a cell with Carlos, a seasoned inmate with several years of experience in the prison system. Carlos takes Ruben under his wing and begins to teach him the ropes of daily life in prison.
As their friendship grows, Ruben and Carlos start to develop feelings for each other. However, the complex hierarchy of the prison system, as well as societal taboos, prevent them from expressing those feelings openly. They are forced to keep their relationship a secret, communicating through coded language and subtle gestures.
Despite their efforts to keep their love hidden, their fellow inmates begin to suspect that something is going on between them. The pressure to conform to prison norms and expectations starts to weigh heavily on both men, leading to moments of conflict and tension.
When Carlos is unexpectedly released from prison, Ruben is left to ponder the true nature of their relationship. Was their love genuine, or simply born out of the need for human connection in a harsh and isolating environment?
