Lucy Cola, played by Natalie Portman, is an astronaut who has just returned from a space mission where she had a life-changing experience. She is struggling to adjust to life back on Earth and finds herself longing for the freedom and majesty of space. Lucy begins to feel disconnected from her husband and family and becomes infatuated with a fellow astronaut, Mark Goodwin, played by Jon Hamm.
Lucy's obsession with Mark leads her down a dangerous path, as she becomes increasingly erratic and detached from reality. She even goes to extreme lengths to win his love, putting her career and sanity in jeopardy.
As Lucy's behavior becomes more and more erratic, her colleagues and family become increasingly concerned for her well-being. The film explores themes of identity, purpose, and the overwhelming scope of the universe, as Lucy struggles to find her place in the world after her transcendent experience in space.
Directed by Noah Hawley, Lucy in the Sky is a unique and thought-provoking exploration of the complex emotions and challenges faced by astronauts returning from space missions. The film also stars Dan Stevens as Lucy's husband, Ellen Burstyn as her grandmother, and Zazie Beetz as another astronaut on the mission.
