Russ Richards, played by John Travolta, is a popular weatherman in a small Pennsylvania town, but behind the scenes, his life is falling apart. He owes money to a loan shark, his snowmobile dealership is struggling, and his mistress, Crystal, played by Lisa Kudrow, is threatening to reveal their affair to his wife.

Together, Russ and Crystal come up with a plan to rig the state lottery and split the winnings. They enlist the help of a local strip club owner, Dale, played by Michael Rapaport, and his dim-witted cousin, who work at the lottery headquarters and have access to the winning numbers.

After some unexpected obstacles, including a malfunctioning lottery machine and the suspicious behavior of the lottery officials, the group manages to fix the drawing and win $6.4 million. However, their troubles are far from over, as they struggle to divide the money fairly and keep their scheme a secret from the police.

As the pressure mounts, the group starts to turn against each other, with Russ and Crystal each vying for the lion's share of the money. The situation grows increasingly dangerous as the loan shark and the police get involved, and the group resorts to desperate measures to protect their newfound wealth.

In the end, Lucky Numbers delivers a darkly comic tale of greed, deceit, and the high stakes of playing with fate.
