Lowdown Dirty Criminals is a comedy crime film that was directed by Paul Murphy and was released in 2020. The movie follows two best friends, Freddy and Marvin, who live in a small town in New Zealand and are always on the lookout for their next big criminal plan. They dream of living in luxury and having hold of lots of money and women.
Freddy, played by James Rolleston, is a young and ambitious criminal who is always looking for ways to get rich quick. Marvin, played by Samuel Austin, is Freddy's slightly dim-witted sidekick who is easily swayed by Freddy's schemes.
However, things go awry when their plans to steal a shipment of electronic goods goes wrong, leaving them deep in debt with a local gangster. To make matters worse, they then stumble upon The Upholsterer, a tough-as-nails crime boss who is determined to find them and make them pay for their mistakes.
The Upholsterer, played by Rebecca Gibney, sends her two henchmen, Semo and Roy, to hunt down Freddy and Marvin. The two friends are forced to go on the run and seek out the help of their former mentor, a retired criminal known as Uncle Angus, played by Robbie Magasiva.
As the boys navigate their way through a series of hilarious misadventures, they discover that their dreams may not be as important as the friendships they have formed along the way.
