When interior designer Lily heads back to her hometown, she meets Marcus, a seaplane pilot who regularly transports rescue dogs to the mainland. Lily also reunites with her Aunt Maggie, who runs a bed and breakfast by the marina. Aunt Maggie is considering selling the business, but Lily is determined to help her keep the inn.
As Lily works with Marcus to make the bed and breakfast more appealing to guests, she finds herself falling for him. However, Marcus is hesitant to open up about his past. Meanwhile, Lily is still grappling with her own complicated family history, which involves her estranged mother.
Throughout the movie, Lily and Marcus work together to save the bed and breakfast, and they also help a local animal shelter find homes for the rescue dogs Marcus delivers. Along the way, they learn to trust each other and open up about their pasts. By the end of the movie, Lily and Marcus realize that they belong together and that Harbor Island truly feels like home.
