Diamond Chaos: Marx Brothers Save Broadway

Comedy  United States of America

Love Happy is a 1949 musical comedy film starring the Marx Brothers. The film was produced by Harpo Marx's son-in-law, Norman Krasna, and the screenplay was written by Krasna himself. The movie follows the story of a young group of struggling performers who become entangled in a diamond heist orchestrated by a powerful gangster named Madame Egelichi.

The film starts with Harpo Marx, who plays a private detective named Sam Grunion, being hired by a beautiful young actress named Maggie Phillips (played by Ilona Massey) to find a stolen pearl necklace. Shortly after being hired, Grunion discovers a tin of sardines that contains a stash of Romanoff diamonds. Meanwhile, Maggie and her fellow performers, including Chico Marx (who plays Faustino the piano player) and Groucho Marx (who plays detective Sam Grunion's "friendly enemy" detective Sam Grunion), are putting on a show in hopes of raising enough money to move to Broadway. They are being pursued by Madame Egelichi's henchmen, who are trying to retrieve the diamonds.

As the story unfolds, the gangsters become more determined to retrieve the diamonds, and the young performers end up getting caught up in a dangerous game of cat and mouse. Along the way, the Marx Brothers provide their trademark zany antics, including Groucho's one-liners, Harpo's silent comedy, and Chico's piano playing.

In the end, the young performers are able to outsmart the gangsters and retrieve the diamonds with the help of the Marx Brothers. The film concludes with a grand finale featuring the entire cast singing and dancing to "Love Happy", composed by Harpo's son-in-law, Frank Loesser.
