Lost Horizon is a 1937 American adventure drama film directed by Frank Capra and based on the novel of the same name by James Hilton. The film stars Ronald Colman, Jane Wyatt, H. B. Warner, Sam Jaffe, and John Howard. It follows British diplomat Robert Conway (Colman) and a small group of survivors who crash land in the Himalayas, but are then rescued by the peaceful and idyllic people of Shangri-la.

Once in Shangri-la, the inhabitants explain to Conway and his companions that they live in a world of perpetual youth and tranquility, free from the stress and strife of the outside world. Conway becomes enamored with the serene lifestyle and begins to put down roots in Shangri-la. However, he soon discovers that not everything is as it seems in this paradise.

Conway learns that the leader of Shangri-la, a wise and mysterious man named the High Lama, has been keeping his people isolated from the outside world for centuries, in order to preserve their way of life and prevent the chaos and destruction of war from entering their sanctuary. But as the world outside begins to spiral into World War II, Conway grows conflicted about staying in Shangri-la or returning to the outside world to fulfill his duty as a British diplomat.

Lost Horizon features stunning visuals of the Himalayan landscape and impressive sets depicting the utopian Shangri-la. The film was a critical and commercial success upon its release and has since become a classic of the adventure and fantasy genres.
