Lost Angels

Drama  United States of America

Lost Angels is a 1989 drama film directed by Hugh Hudson and written by Michael Weller. The film stars Donald Sutherland as Dr. Charles Loftis, a psychiatrist who takes an interest in a troubled teenager named Tim Doolan, played by Adam Horovitz of the Beastie Boys.

Tim is a rich party brat living in Los Angeles, who spins into a cycle of despair after his parents' divorce. He turns to drugs and trouble, going on wild binges with his friends and causing trouble wherever he goes. His behavior leads him to an alumnus where he is diagnosed with depression, anxiety and borderline personality disorder.

Despite being initially resistant to treatment, Tim begins to open up to Dr. Loftis, who sees potential in him and wants to help him turn his life around. However, Tim's road to recovery is not easy, and he struggles to break free from his old habits and the negative influences around him.

The film explores themes of teenage rebellion, mental illness, and the struggle to find oneself in a world that can often feel overwhelming and confusing. Lost Angels is a powerful, realistic portrayal of the challenges that many young people face, and the hope that can come from finding a caring mentor or professional who is willing to help guide them towards a better future.
