Loose Screws

Comedy  Canada

Loose Screws is a raunchy teen comedy, released in 1985, directed by Rafal Zielinski. The film starts with Brad, Steve, Hue, and Marvin, who are all flunking in school and sent to a summer school program called Cockswell Academy, which is run by the strict and no-nonsense Principal Arsenault.

The boys are initially obsessed with girls and making a scorecard to keep track of their sexual conquests. At their first school dance, they meet the beautiful new French teacher, Mona Lott, and decide to make her the ultimate 100-point score. The boys try everything in their power to get her attention, from flying a banner across the school to dressing up in costumes and sneaking into her room, but they fail every time.

Their attempts only lead to further and more absurd misadventures, which culminate in them getting caught by Principal Arsenault and facing suspension from school. However, they come up with a plan to redeem themselves by performing at the school's anniversary celebration, which is a talent show. The boys put together a musical number that incorporates their misadventures, and they win the competition.

Overall, Loose Screws is a zany and crude comedy that fully embraces its style. With its over-the-top humor and teenage sexual fantasies, the movie is definitely not for everyone, but it still holds a cult following among fans of the genre.
