In Looking for Mr. Right, the struggling writer, Jess (played by Meghan Markle) has hit a dry spell in her career, and her editor is threatening to drop her if she doesn't come up with a new manuscript soon. In a last-ditch effort to save her career, Jess decides to fabricate a relationship with a handsome and successful businessman, Tom (played by Kristoffer Polaha), hoping that the publicity will help boost her visibility as an author.
Meanwhile, Jess's best friend and longtime crush, Ted (played by Jonathan Scarfe), has always been there for her and has secretly been in love with her for years. Though Ted is hesitant to confront Jess about his feelings, he becomes increasingly frustrated as he watches her fake relationship with Tom become more and more publicized.
