Lonely Wives follows the exploits of Jake, a young and somewhat naive reporter who is constantly pushing the boundaries of journalism in order to make a name for himself. He's also something of a nudist, and he's not shy about showing off his naked body whenever he can.
One day, Jake decides to do a story on so-called "sexual widows" - housewives whose husbands are too busy or preoccupied with work to give them the attention they crave. He interviews several women who are in this situation, and finds that they are all desperate for some kind of sexual outlet.
As Jake delves deeper into the topic, he begins to realize that he's become attracted to some of these lonely wives himself. He starts to take advantage of their vulnerability, seducing them one by one and filming his exploits for his documentary.
Despite the sleazy premise, Lonely Wives is presented as a serious piece of journalism about the plight of these neglected women. It also features a number of explicit sex scenes, all of which are shot with a voyeuristic eye that's typical of low-budget exploitation films from the era.
