Branding Mayhem: In Search of the Ultimate Logo Criminal

Animation  France

Logorama is a French animated short film that was directed by H5, a collective consisting of François Alaux, Hervé de Crécy, and Ludovic Houplain. The film premiered at the Cannes Film Festival in 2009 and went on to win the Academy Award for Best Animated Short Film in 2010.

The movie is set in a world made entirely out of corporate logos, with every character and object being represented by a recognizable brand icon. The two cops are named Pringle and Michelin, and they work for the LAPD (which is represented by the logo of the Los Angeles Dodgers). They are called to action when an armed criminal (represented by the logo of the Green Giant vegetable company) takes a hostage in a bank and begins a high-speed chase through the city.

As they pursue the criminal, the cops encounter a variety of other branded characters and products, such as a Playboy bunny, a Birdhouse skateboard, and a Starbucks coffee cup. Along the way, they also face a number of challenges and obstacles, such as navigating through a maze of highway signs and battling a giant Energizer bunny.

Eventually, the chase leads them to a climactic confrontation with the villain, who has taken refuge at the top of a skyscraper made out of the Citgo logo. In the end, the cops emerge victorious, but not without suffering some casualties along the way.

Overall, Logorama is a clever and satirical depiction of the pervasive influence of corporate branding in modern society, and the way in which companies strive to make their products and logos omnipresent in our daily lives.
