Lock Up is a 1989 American prison action film directed by John Flynn. The movie stars Sylvester Stallone as Frank Leone, a model prisoner nearing the end of his sentence for a relatively minor crime. Just before he is to be paroled, he is taken to Gateway Prison, a maximum-security facility overseen by the ruthless and sadistic Warden Drumgoole (played by Donald Sutherland).
It is soon revealed that Drumgoole has a personal vendetta against Leone, as he was publicly humiliated by him in the past. Drumgoole ensures that Leone's stay at Gateway Prison is an absolute nightmare, involving harsh treatment, solitary confinement, and brutal violence from fellow inmates who have been paid off by Drumgoole. Leone's only hope is to survive until his release date and make it out alive.
As the days drag on, Leone faces increasing pressure from Drumgoole, who will stop at nothing to keep him behind bars. The tension between the two men builds, leading to a final showdown that will determine the fate of their lives. With the help of a prison elder played by actor Tom Sizemore, Leone must find a way to survive Warden Drumgoole's brutal reign and make it out of Gateway Prison alive.
