The movie Little Woods follows Ollie, a woman who lives in a small oil boomtown in North Dakota. She has been secretly helping the people in her town access affordable healthcare and medication from across the Canadian border. However, when the authorities catch wind of her illegal activities, Ollie decides to stop.
But her resolve is tested when her estranged sister Deb calls her in desperation. Deb is pregnant and needs money to get an abortion, but she doesn't have the funds or access to healthcare. Ollie initially refuses to help, but eventually caves in.
As Ollie and Deb navigate the dangers of their small town and the risks of crossing the border into Canada, they must also confront their complex past and present relationship. They also face the harsh realities of living in a community that only seems to offer limited options for women like them.
Little Woods is a gritty, emotional drama that explores themes of sisterhood, poverty, and the consequences of limited access to healthcare. Actress Tessa Thompson delivers a powerful performance as Ollie, while Lily James delivers an equally impressive turn as her sister Deb.
