Little Orphans is a Canadian drama film directed by Ruth Lawrence, and produced by Jill Knox-Gosse. The movie revolves around the wedding of their youngest sister, Janet, which brings Gwen and Kay back to their hometown in St. John's, Newfoundland. However, their return home is not a smooth one because of the dysfunctional relationships between the sisters. While Janet tries to put on a happy face, Kay creates chaos wherever she goes, and Gwen is struggling with a past secret that haunts her.

The film explores the complicated relationships between the sisters, their Aunt Maureen, their absent mother, and Kay's daughter Billie. Each character has their own issues and secrets that they are hiding, adding to the already tense family dynamic. Throughout the movie, we see the sisters struggle to come to terms with the mistakes they've made in their lives, while also grappling with the reality of their fractured family.

As the wedding day approaches, tensions rise, and the family's dysfunction becomes impossible to ignore. Gwen becomes increasingly frustrated with Kay's lack of responsibility towards her daughter, Billie, leading to a heated confrontation that threatens to tear the family apart. Meanwhile, Janet tries to keep the peace, but even she seems to be hiding something.

The climax of the film takes place at the reception, where all the secrets and tensions come to a head. The stormy weather outside mirrors the turmoil inside, as the sisters and their family members struggle to come to terms with the truth about themselves and each other. In the end, the family may not be perfect, but they are still family, and together they find a way to move forward.
