Cedric's mother, who has always kept her son's inheritance from the Earl a secret, is shocked when the Earl sends for Cedric and demands that he come to live with him in England. Despite being reluctant to leave his mother, Cedric travels to England with her to meet his grandfather. The Earl is initially cold and distant to the boy, and Cedric struggles to adjust to his new life of aristocracy and formalities.
As Cedric begins to win the hearts of the Earl's staff and neighbors with his kindness and charm, the Earl begins to soften towards him. However, the Earl's lawyer, Mr. Havisham, is plotting to have Cedric declared illegitimate in order to inherit the estate himself. After several close calls and misunderstandings, Cedric proves his legitimacy and loyalty to the Earl, who finally accepts him as his true heir.
Little Lord Fauntleroy is a heartwarming story about the power of love and forgiveness, and the importance of treating others with kindness and respect, regardless of their social status. It stars Alec Guinness as the Earl of Dorincourt and Ricky Schroder as Cedric.
