The film follows Ainsley, a young woman who lives a solitary life, avoiding social situations and human interaction. But when a quarantine lockdown is enforced due to a deadly virus outbreak, Ainsley finds herself alone for weeks on end with nothing but her thoughts and a dead mouse in a jar.
As Ainsley spends more time in isolation, she becomes increasingly restless and begins to long for a friend. One day, she discovers Ulysses, the dead mouse in the jar, and begins to imagine what it would be like if they were friends. She dresses Ulysses up in a tiny tuxedo and pretends he can talk, creating a whole imaginary world around him.
As their friendship blossoms, Ainsley realizes that she is actually enjoying the company of someone, even if that someone is a mouse that doesn't really exist. But when the lockdown finally ends and Ainsley is forced to return to normal life, she struggles to adjust to the real world and find the human connections she desperately craves.
Eventually, through a series of unlikely events, Ainsley is reunited with Ulysses, who has miraculously come back to life. Overjoyed to have her best friend back, Ainsley begins to see the world in a new light, realizing that even the smallest connections can make life worth living.
