In Little Fauss and Big Halsy, Robert Redford plays Halsy Knox, a cocky and talented motocross racer who travels the circuit with his buddy, Wayne. Halsy uses his charming personality and good looks to manipulate women and get his way, while Wayne enables his behavior.
Meanwhile, Little Fauss, played by Michael J. Pollard, is a shy and awkward young man who dreams of being a motocross racer like Halsy. Fauss idolizes Halsy and is thrilled when the two become roommates and start training together.
As Fauss begins to improve and gain confidence, Halsy's shallow lifestyle catches up to him. He becomes involved with Rita, a married woman who is also a fan of motocross. Halsy is more interested in breaking up her marriage and using her for his own pleasure than in building a real relationship with her.
In the end, Fauss proves to be the better man and racer. He wins a race against Halsy and falls in love with Rita, who chooses him over Halsy. Halsy, on the other hand, is left alone and realizing the true cost of his behavior.
Little Fauss and Big Halsy is a heartwarming story of redemption and the importance of character over superficial charm. The film was released in 1970 and directed by Sidney J. Furie.
