Little Children is a 2006 drama film directed by Todd Field. Based on the novel of the same name by Tom Perrotta, it tells the story of several characters whose lives intersect in a suburban neighborhood in Massachusetts.
The film follows Sarah Pierce (Kate Winslet), a housewife who is bored with her life and her husband Richard (Gregg Edelman). She soon develops a relationship with Brad Adamson (Patrick Wilson), a stay-at-home dad who is unhappy with his marriage to Kathy (Jennifer Connelly). Sarah and Brad's relationship becomes complicated when they are caught by a voyeur named Ronnie (Jackie Earle Haley), a registered sex offender who lives in the neighborhood.
Meanwhile, Larry Hedges (Noah Emmerich), a disgraced ex-police officer, becomes obsessed with Ronnie and begins to harass him, believing that he is a danger to the neighborhood. Larry's obsession leads to disastrous consequences for everyone involved.
As the characters struggle to resist their vulnerabilities and temptations, their lives become increasingly intertwined. Little Children offers a poignant and thought-provoking exploration of suburban life and the complexities of human relationships.
