The farmer's name is Wei Xiaobao, played by Jackie Chan, and he is a low-ranking soldier in the Liang dynasty army. Wei is not interested in fighting for his country and dreams of returning home to his village to live a peaceful life. His chance to do so comes after a battle against the Wei army, where he discovers a wounded general, played by Wang Leehom, who is the only survivor from the enemy side.
Wei sees this as an opportunity to earn his freedom and capture the general, allowing him to claim the reward of five "mu" of land and honorable discharge from the army. However, Wei soon realizes that capturing the general is not as easy as he thought. The general is unwilling to cooperate and constantly tries to escape. As they travel together, Wei and the general develop a bond and a sense of mutual respect.
Throughout their journey, Wei and the general encounter various dangers, including bandits, wild animals, and other soldiers who are looking for the missing general. Despite their differences, Wei and the general work together to overcome these obstacles and survive.
Little Big Soldier explores themes of loyalty, respect, and the effects of war on individuals. It combines action and comedy, with Jackie Chan's signature stunts and physical humor, with a heartfelt story that showcases his acting range. The movie was directed by Ding Sheng and was released in 2010.
