The struggling musician, named Eleanor, is in her late 20s and is working as a hotel chambermaid when she is unexpectedly fired. Meanwhile, a wealthy and successful couple hires her to be the summer guardian for their 12-year-old daughter, named Reggie. Reggie is a musical prodigy who plays various instruments and composes music. She is also feeling neglected by her parents who are frequently traveling and often absent. Initially, Eleanor has difficulty adjusting to her new role and getting along with Reggie, but eventually, the two develop a close bond over their shared love of music and become like family.
