The main character of the movie, Kiya, is a young woman who is struggling to find a sense of purpose in her life. She is a loner who spends most of her time on social media, where she posts videos of herself committing petty crimes and generally causing trouble.
After one of her videos goes viral, Kiya becomes something of an internet sensation. She begins to receive messages from strangers all over the world, all of whom seem to admire her reckless behavior. But even as her fame grows, Kiya realizes that she is still deeply unhappy. She craves meaningful connections with other human beings, and starts to reach out to people in her life.
Along the way, Kiya meets a number of other characters who are also struggling to find their place in the world. There is a drifter who is haunted by his past, an internet troll who finds solace in bullying others online, and a paint huffing outsider who is trying to escape his own demons. These characters are all drawn into Kiya's orbit, and together they explore themes of loneliness, connection, and alienation.
Throughout the movie, the characters are often high on drugs or consuming copious amounts of junk food. The film's aesthetic is gritty and unsettling, with a focus on bright neon lights and jarring sound effects. Despite the bleakness of the subject matter, however, there are moments of levity and humor that keep the audience engaged. In the end, Like Me is a thought-provoking exploration of modern loneliness and the search for human connection in a digital age.
