Shelia, played by Marin Ireland, is struggling to make ends meet as a single mother and part-time paranormal investigator. She is approached by a man named Richard, played by Jim Gaffigan, who believes his late wife might be haunting his farmhouse in rural East Tennessee.
Despite being skeptical, Sheila travels to the farmhouse with her equipment and starts her investigation. She soon realizes that the widower is not the only one in the house with a connection to the supernatural. Shelia begins experiencing strange phenomena herself, leading her to believe that something truly paranormal is happening.
As she digs deeper into the mystery of the farmhouse, Shelia finds herself bonding with Richard and his son and confronting her own fears and traumas. She also begins to consider that the haunting may be more than just a simple ghost story.
