Lifeforce is a 1985 science fiction horror film directed by Tobe Hooper and written by Dan O'Bannon and Don Jakoby. The film is loosely based on the novel The Space Vampires by Colin Wilson.

The movie begins with a joint mission between the United States and European space agencies to investigate Halley's Comet. The mission leads aboard a spacecraft called the Churchill, which discovers an enormous spaceship hidden within the coma of the comet.

When the Churchill's crew enters the alien vessel, they find it filled with the long-dead bodies of what appear to be giant bat-like creatures and three naked humanoid beings in suspended animation. The crew brings the bodies of the aliens and the female back to Earth for investigation.

But as soon as the woman, played by Mathilda May, is brought back to Earth, strange things start to happen. The crew members who come into contact with her become infected with a strange virus, and many of them begin to transform into zombie-like creatures that attack and kill other humans.

As the outbreak spreads across London, a government agency under the direction of Colonel Caine, played by Peter Firth, attempts to capture the alien woman and discover the source of the virus. Meanwhile, the sole survivor of the Churchill mission, astronaut Colonel Carlsen, played by Steve Railsback, becomes romantically involved with the alien and tries to protect her from harm.

It soon becomes clear that the naked woman is not what she seems, and that she and the bat-like creatures are actually energy-based beings that feed on the life force of other creatures. In the end, Colonel Carlsen and Colonel Caine are forced to team up to stop the alien threat before it destroys all life on Earth.

Lifeforce is known for its striking visuals and special effects, as well as its over-the-top storyline and scenes of graphic violence and nudity. Despite mixed reviews upon its release, the movie has gained a cult following in the years since, and is considered a cult classic of 1980s horror cinema.
