Let Me In is a 2010 American-British horror film directed by Matt Reeves and starring Kodi Smit-McPhee, Chloe Grace Moretz, and Richard Jenkins. The film is a remake of the 2008 Swedish film Let the Right One In, which was based on the novel of the same name by John Ajvide Lindqvist.
The movie tells the story of a bullied twelve-year-old boy named Owen who lives in New Mexico in the 1980s. One cold winter night, Owen meets a strange young girl named Abby who moves in next door with her guardian, an old man. Despite her strange behavior and her need to be invited into Owen's house, they build a strong relationship that turns into a romantic one.
However, as Owen becomes more aware of Abby's true nature as a vampire, her guardian (who is also her father) goes on a killing spree to get her the blood she needs to survive. Meanwhile, Owen's mother becomes increasingly suspicious of her son's relationship with Abby, leading to a violent confrontation between the two families.
The film received critical acclaim for its acting, directing, and cinematography. It was praised for its handling of the horror elements of the story, as well as its themes of love, loneliness, and the horrors of adolescence. The film was a modest box-office success, grossing over $24 million worldwide, and was later nominated for various awards, including a BAFTA for Best Adapted Screenplay.
