The concert was recorded live at London's O2 Arena in October 2010 and features a full orchestra conducted by David Charles Abell. The show opened with a rousing orchestral overture before the performers took to the stage. The concert version included all of the musical numbers from the original show, including "One Day More," "On My Own," and "Do You Hear the People Sing?"

The cast included many of the original cast members from the 1985 production, including Colm Wilkinson, Frances Ruffelle, and Alun Armstrong. Michael Ball, who played Marius in the 1985 production, returned to the show to play Javert. Hadley Fraser played the role of Javert in the 2010 production at the Queen's Theatre. John Owen-Jones, who played Jean Valjean in the 2006 revival production, reprised the role for the concert.

The concert presentation featured the performers in full costume, with elaborate sets and lighting effects. The show was directed by Laurence Connor and James Powell and produced by Cameron Mackintosh.

Les Misérables in Concert - The 25th Anniversary was released on DVD and Blu-ray in 2011 and has become a favorite among fans of the musical. The concert has also been staged in other cities around the world, including Paris and Sydney.
