Casey McKay is a successful lawyer who lives and works in Chicago. One day, he receives a call from his ex-wife, who asks him to come to her small hometown in Alabama to defend her brother, Dwayne. Dwayne has been accused of murdering the District Attorney in the town, and if found guilty, faces a life sentence.
Casey agrees to take on the case and travels to Alabama, where he is immediately met with hostility and suspicion from the small-town locals who view him as an outsider. He soon discovers that the murder case is not as straightforward as it seems, and there is a web of conspiracy behind it.
Casey begins to uncover evidence that suggests that the town's most powerful and corrupt figure, Mr. Gates, may be behind the murder. Mr. Gates is a wealthy land developer who has been using his influence to control and manipulate the town's politics and economy for his own benefit.
As Casey continues to dig deeper, he is met with increasing threats and violence from Mr. Gates and his associates, who will stop at nothing to keep their secrets hidden. However, Casey is determined to get to the bottom of the case and bring justice to the small town that has been controlled by corrupt officials for too long.
