Legacy of Rage is a Hong Kong action film released in 1986 starring Brandon Lee, son of the famous martial artist and actor, Bruce Lee. The movie was directed by Ronny Yu and was Lee's first leading role in a feature film.
The movie begins with Brandon Ma (Lee), a hardworking man who juggles two jobs to support his girlfriend, May (Regina Kent), and fulfill his dream of owning a motorbike. Brandon's best friend is Michael (Michael Wong), who deals in drugs and is secretly in love with May.
Things take a violent turn when an undercover police officer named Sharky (Ken Boyle) starts dominating the local cocaine trade with the help of his connections. Michael decides to eliminate him to get rid of the competition and impress May. He frames Brandon for the crime and gets him sent to prison for years.
After eight years of imprisonment, Brandon is finally released and discovers that Michael has not kept his promise to clear his name. Brandon decides to avenge the injustice done to him and sets out to take revenge on Michael and Sharky.
The film showcases several intense action sequences and fight scenes choreographed by Corey Yuen. It also features a soundtrack by Michael Wandmacher that includes pop songs with a hint of punk and rock music.
Legacy of Rage was well received for Brandon Lee's performance and the raw intensity of the action scenes. It proved to be a stepping stone in his career, leading to his roles in future Hollywood films such as The Crow.
