After a messy break up, Jake and Emily find themselves stuck in a lease together for their shared apartment. It's clear that the two of them don't get along as they spend most of their days avoiding each other or getting into heated arguments.
One particularly dark and stormy night, the couple is rudely awakened by a blood-curdling scream. As they investigate the source of the noise, they soon realize that they are not alone in their home. There is a ghostly presence that seems to be haunting them.
At first, they try to ignore it and brush it off as their imagination. However, as the days go on, the ghost becomes increasingly more malevolent. Dishes are smashed, furniture is overturned, and the ceiling begins to bleed.
As they experience more and more terrifying events, they come to the realization that they must work together to take on the ghost and cleanse their apartment of the sinister entity.
Despite their efforts to work together, their past scars get in the way of fully connecting with one another. The film explores the complications of sharing a space with someone after an ugly break up, as well as the fear of the unknown that comes with experiencing paranormal activity.
As they uncover the truth behind the ghost's presence, they learn that there is only one way out of their lease...and it involves confronting their past and dealing with their feelings for each other.
