The Venice Con: Deadly Briefcase Deception

Le Guignolo is a 1980 French-Italian film directed by Georges Lautner and starring Jean-Paul Belmondo. The movie follows the misadventures of Alexandre Dupré, an international con artist who is on the run from the authorities after his recent criminal exploits went awry. He decides to lay low in Venice and attempt to swindle some wealthy Japanese businessmen into buying a fake copy of a stolen painting by Caneletto.

While on the aeroplane, Alexandre is approached by a mysterious stranger who asks him to hold onto his briefcase until after they have landed. Alexandre agrees, but soon after, the stranger is shot dead in front of him. Alexandre becomes the target of enemy agents who are desperate to recover the briefcase. The contents of the briefcase turn out to be a top-secret formula for a revolutionary pollution control system, with the potential to change the world.

As Alexandre tries to evade the enemy agents and figure out what to do with the briefcase, he crosses paths with a beautiful woman named Sophie (Mirella D'Angelo) who helps him stay one step ahead of the agents. Along the way, Alexandre must use all of his cunning and cleverness to outsmart his pursuers and keep the formula safe.
