Land of Storms is a Hungarian drama film directed by Ádám Császi and released in 2014. It tells the story of a young Hungarian football player called Szabolcs, who moves to Germany to play for a team in a small town.
Szabolcs ends up rooming with a fellow football player from Burkina Faso named Bernard. The two develop a close friendship over time and regularly spend their free time together exploring the town. However, after a particularly tough loss, Szabolcs begins to feel disillusioned with his life and decides to return to Hungary to seek a simpler way of living.
Once back home, Szabolcs meets a local man named Áron and the two quickly become attracted to each other. However, their relationship is put on hold when Szabolcs receives an unexpected phone call from Bernard, who has come to Hungary to find him.
The arrival of Bernard and the resurfacing of their friendship causes tension between Szabolcs and Áron, leading to a series of events that ultimately force Szabolcs to confront his inner demons and face the consequences of his actions.
The film explores themes of identity, sexuality, and the complexities of relationships, while also shedding light on the challenges faced by people who leave their home countries to pursue their dreams elsewhere.
