Ladyworld

Thriller  United States of America

Ladyworld is a psychological thriller film written and directed by Amanda Kramer. The movie revolves around eight young women who get trapped in a house following a massive earthquake. With no electricity, food, or water, these girls are forced to band together and rely on each other for survival. As time passes, their vulnerability turns into fear, paranoia, and ultimately, aggressive behavior as they desperately try to hold on to their sanity in their strange, new reality.

The main characters are played by Ariela Barer, Annalise Basso, Ryan Simpkins, Odessa A'zion, Maya Hawke, Tatsumi Romano, Zora Casebere, and Allie MacDonald. They portray the characters' increasing psychological breakdowns with intensity and believability, making the viewer question who will make it out alive.

The film is shot in claustrophobic, dimly lit sets, adding to the atmosphere of confusion and fear. The lack of background music or sound effects heightens the tension, making every footstep and whisper seem magnified and ominous.

The story is loosely based on William Golding’s "The Lord of the Flies", but with an all-female cast. It explores the darker aspects of human nature, showing how societal norms and rules can crumble in an instant. Ladyworld is a unique take on the survivalist genre, effectively exploring the complex relationships between girls when their basic needs and comforts are taken away.
