The movie Lady in White was directed by Frank LaLoggia and released in 1988. It is a supernatural thriller set in the small town of Willowpoint Falls in upstate New York, where ten-year-old Frank Scarlatti (played by Lukas Haas) lives with his widowed father and younger brother.
On Halloween night, Frank is accidentally locked in the school closet and witnesses the ghost of a young girl who was murdered years before. He also sees the man who killed her, but nobody believes him when he tells them what he saw.
As strange occurrences and murders continue to happen in the town, Frank becomes obsessed with solving the mystery of the girl's death. He is aided by his new friend, an African-American classmate named Schoolboy (played by Jason Presson), and a local eccentric named Mrs. Zimabli (played by Katherine Helmond).
Frank's investigations lead him to an abandoned house on the outskirts of town, where he meets a mysterious woman known as the Lady in White (played by Alex Rocco's wife Shannon Wilcox). She seems to have a connection to the murdered girl and fears for her own life.
As Frank delves deeper into the mystery, he discovers that the killer may be someone he knows and trusts. The movie climaxes in a chilling confrontation between Frank and the killer in the Lady in White's haunted house.
Lady in White was well-received by critics and audiences for its atmospheric setting, strong performances, and intelligent story. It has since become a cult classic and a Halloween favorite for many viewers.
