La Vie en Rose is a biographical drama film that tells the life story of French singer Edith Piaf from her early childhood to her untimely death at the age of 47. The film is directed by Olivier Dahan and stars Marion Cotillard in the lead role. The movie follows the tumultuous life of Piaf as she rises to fame as a singer, and her personal struggles with love, addiction, illness, and tragedy.
The film begins with a young Edith who is abandoned by her mother and raised by her grandmother in a brothel.
