In Kung Fu Monster, Ocean is tasked with taming a mythical creature known as a "Qilin" which was gifted to the Ming Dynasty by the Bruneian Empire. The Qilin is a fearsome creature with sharp teeth and claws, but Ocean discovers that it is also incredibly intelligent and kind-hearted.
As Ocean begins to bond with the Qilin, he realizes that the Emperor intends to use the creature as a weapon of war. Horrified at the thought of such a magnificent creature being used for violence, Ocean decides to free the Qilin and keep it away from the clutches of the Emperor.
At the same time, Ocean falls in love with Frigid, the daughter of a man who was wrongly executed for treason. The two of them decide to run away together and start a new life, but they soon discover that they are being hunted by the Imperial Secret Police.
As Ocean and Frigid try to evade their pursuers, they must also protect the Qilin from being captured and turned into a weapon of war. Along the way, they encounter a variety of allies and enemies, including a powerful warlord and a group of bandits who want to capture the Qilin for their own purposes.
