Krystal is a coming-of-age comedy-drama film directed by William H. Macy. The film centers around 18-year-old Taylor Ogburn, a sheltered boy who suffers from a congenital heart condition that prevents him from experiencing life to the fullest. Taylor becomes infatuated with Krystal, a confident and experienced stripper, and decides to join her Alcoholics Anonymous group in an attempt to get closer to her.
Through his involvement in the group, Taylor meets a cast of characters who challenge his preconceptions about life and love. He befriends Doddie, a cheerful and optimistic fellow member of the group, and falls in love with Becca, a troubled girl struggling with addiction.
As Taylor navigates his way through the ups and downs of his new social circle, he must confront his own limitations and find the courage to make bold and risky choices in order to pursue the life and love he truly desires.
Krystal features a star-studded cast including Macy's wife, Felicity Huffman, as well as Rosario Dawson, William Fichtner, Kathy Bates, and Nick Robinson in the lead role of Taylor Ogburn. The film premiered at the South by Southwest film festival in March 2017 and received mixed reviews from critics.
