Comedy,Drama,Family  United States of America

The movie Krippendorf's Tribe was released in 1998 and was directed by Todd Holland. It stars Richard Dreyfuss as James Krippendorf, Jenna Elfman as Veronica Micelli, and Natanya Ross, Shiri Appleby, and Carl Michael Lindner as Krippendorf's children.

The movie opens with Krippendorf struggling to come up with an idea for his next anthropology project after wasting his grant money on personal expenses following the death of his wife. He decides to invent a tribe called the Shelmikedmu, and with the help of his kids, stages rituals and creates costumes to convince the academic world of their existence.

After submitting fake research to a journal and gaining praise from his colleagues, Krippendorf sees an opportunity to secure more funding and continues the charade. However, things start to unravel when a rival anthropologist, Veronica Micelli, becomes suspicious and begins to investigate.

As Krippendorf tries to maintain the illusion of the Shelmikedmu, he learns valuable lessons about parenting, love, and the importance of honesty. The movie is a lighthearted comedy that pokes fun at the academic world and the lengths people will go to in order to prove a point.
