Krakatoa, East of Java is a 1969 disaster film directed by Bernard L. Kowalski. The film is loosely based on the 1883 eruption of the Krakatoa volcano in Indonesia.
The story follows Captain Hanson (Maximilian Schell) and his crew of salvage workers who are ordered by a wealthy entrepreneur to retrieve a valuable cargo from a shipwreck near Krakatoa. However, their mission is complicated by the presence of a group of ruthless pirates who are also after the treasure.
As the crew begins their dive, they soon realize that the underwater conditions are dangerous and unpredictable, with strong currents and shifting tides. Meanwhile, the Krakatoa volcano begins to show signs of a potential eruption, causing widespread panic and chaos in the surrounding area.
Despite the mounting danger, Hanson and his crew press on with their mission, hoping to secure the treasure before it falls into the hands of the pirates. But as the situation becomes more dire, they are forced to make impossible choices that test their courage and loyalty.
