Kiss Me, Stupid is a 1964 American comedy film directed by Billy Wilder and starring Dean Martin, Kim Novak, and Ray Walston. The movie is based on the play "L'Ora della Fantasia" by Anna Bonacci.

The story revolves around Dino (played by Dean Martin), a popular lounge singer, who is traveling from Vegas to Los Angeles. On the way, he stops at a small town and meets a local mechanic/songwriter named Barney (played by Cliff Osmond). Barney desperately wants to get his songs noticed and persuades Dino to stay in town for the night. He intends to use this time to persuade Dino to sing one of his songs and become famous.

To convince Dino to stay for the night, Barney introduces Dino to his songwriting partner, Orville (played by Ray Walston), who offers Dino a place to stay. Orville is a nervous and uptight family man who is worried about his wife's disapproval of his partnership with Barney. Consequently, Orville asks a local waitress/call girl, Polly (played by Kim Novak), to pose as his wife to avoid any suspicion.

However, things take a turn when Dino becomes attracted to Polly, believing her to be Orville's wife. Polly initially tries to discourage Dino, but they later connect over a shared love of music. At the same time, Orville grows suspicious of Polly's growing relationship with Dino, thinking that she might be cheating.

As the night progresses, everyone's secrets are revealed, leading to chaos and confusion. But in the end, the characters come to realize what they truly want and value in life.

Kiss Me, Stupid was not well-received by critics upon its release, as it was considered too sexual and controversial for the time. However, the film has since gained a cult following and is now considered a classic comedy.
