The two American soldiers are Lieutenant Sam Loggins (played by Frank Sinatra) and Sergeant Britt Harris (played by Tony Curtis), both of whom are stationed in Southern France during the final days of World War II. While on leave, they both meet Monique Blair (played by Natalie Wood), an attractive young American woman who has been living in France for several years.
As Sam and Britt both become romantically involved with Monique, they begin to learn more about her past and her family. They soon realize that Monique's mother was African American, which makes Monique biracial. This revelation causes tension between the soldiers, as Sam is from the North and is more accustomed to racial equality, while Britt is from the South and is more inclined to uphold the racial segregation of his upbringing.
Meanwhile, the three of them must navigate the challenges of war, including enemy attacks and the threat of being separated by duty. As they continue to spend time together, Sam and Britt's feelings for Monique become more complicated as they each wrestle with their own conflicting emotions and beliefs.
Throughout the film, Kings Go Forth explores themes of race, prejudice, and brotherhood, as the soldiers learn to reconcile their differences and work together to fight for their country. The film also features supporting performances from Leora Dana and Eddie Ryder, among others.
