Kingdom Hospital is a thirteen-episode television series created by horror master Stephen King, based on Lars von Trier's Danish television show, The Kingdom. The series was filmed in Lewiston, Maine, and premiered on ABC in 2004.

The story follows the staff and patients of Kingdom Hospital, a haunted hospital built on the site of a Civil War-era mill fire. The hospital's founder, Dr. Appleyard, is obsessed with the idea of building a hospital that can communicate with the afterlife, and he believes that Kingdom Hospital is the perfect location to do so.

As the staff begins to experience strange and terrifying phenomena, they soon realize that the hospital is in fact haunted by the spirits of the children who died in the mill fire. A young girl named Mary Jensen, who died in the fire, becomes a central character as her ghost appears to various characters throughout the series.

Dr. Hook, a surgeon who is struggling with addiction to pain medication, becomes convinced that he is being haunted by the ghost of a patient he accidentally killed on the operating table. Meanwhile, a psychic artist named Sally Druse is drawn to the hospital and begins to have visions of the spirits trapped within its walls.

As the staff and patients work to solve the mystery of the hospital's hauntings, they uncover a dark and twisted past involving murder, betrayal, and secrets that have been buried for over a century.

Kingdom Hospital is a chilling and thrilling exploration of the horror genre, blending supernatural elements with psychological suspense, and featuring a memorable cast of characters who are haunted by their pasts and their present.
