The main character, Justin Schumacher (played by Jamie Kennedy), was a talented breakdancer in the 80s, part of a group called the Funky Fresh Boys. The group consisted of his best friends, Kip (Miguel A. Núñez Jr.), Aki (Bobby Lee), and Darnell (Michael Rosenbaum).

During a talent show, the Funky Fresh Boys were up against their rivals, the Atomic Funky Flames. In an attempt to outdo them, Justin attempted a dangerous move and fell off the stage, hitting his head and falling into a coma.

Fast forward 20 years, Justin wakes up in a hospital to find that the world has changed significantly. His parents' yogurt shop is struggling, and they are in debt. Justin, still with the mind and interests of a 12-year-old boy, is determined to help his parents and revive the Funky Fresh Boys' career.

He reunites with his friends, who are now struggling in their own life paths. Kip is working as a janitor, Aki is a sushi chef, and Darnell is a successful businessman but has lost his passion for dance.

Together, they attempt to enter a dance competition with a cash prize that could save the yogurt shop. However, they face challenges from the Atomic Funky Flames, who have become the biggest and most successful dance group in the country.

The film features a mix of comedy, dance, and nostalgia for the 80s, and includes appearances from famous breakdancers such as David "Elsewhere" Bernal and Jesse "Casper" Brown. Ultimately, the Funky Fresh Boys learn the true meaning of friendship and never giving up on your dreams.
